Fleet Feet Sports
April 2006
David & Ellen Boutillier began Fleet Feet Sports, Rochester July 15, 2004 to utilize their combined skills to bring a unique blend of fitness and health to the Rochester area.

David brings an extensive athletic background plus ten years experience in retail athletic footwear. He has a racing company and promotes various events. Ellen has an extensive business background in apparel product management, personal training, fitness instruction and coaching experience. Together they have a philosophy of strong customer service, proper fit, quality products and community involvement.
The Boutilliers went to SCORE to help them polish their business plan and learn about executing the plan and what they faced in getting the operation going. They met with counselor Bob Zinnicker twice: once down town and once in Webster. Ellen said that Bob was a great help in pointing out the pitfalls they faced. He suggested many revisions that made the enterprise work.
Currently, the store has been opened at 2210 Monroe Avenue one and one-half years and has been growing steadily. They have exceeded their original projections. They have learned that any plan has to be fluid and flexible. It seldom follows the plotted path.

Ellen’s best advice to someone starting out You have to have a good business plan, but don’t expect the execution to follow the script. You have to be flexible. Life doesn’t follow a script it always brings surprises.
