SCORE is undertaking an initiative nationally to assist non-profit organizations in building their capacity to serve their communities. The Rochester chapter of SCORE has had a small but steady number of non-profits in its list of clients. It has assisted some start up and emerging not for profits in organizing and forming their boards as well as in fund raising activities.
Recently, Rochester SCORE was approached by the United Way to consider assuming the functions that previously had been provided by ESCOR to Rochester’s non-profit agencies. Plans are underway to expand our work with non-profits.
At the May meeting, Carol Love, retired CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rochester/Syracuse Region, and Ann Sartwell, retired CEO of the Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley, Inc., spoke to SCORE members about “What’s Going On in Non-Profits” and “The Resources Available to Help in Counseling Non-Profits”
After their talks, they were joined by Jim Mroczek, retired. CEO of The Arc of Monroe County, and Jim Ahearn, Multiple Sclerosis Society Upstate New York Chapter President, retired, to answer questions from SCORE members.
